A very interesting dram, originally the only Speysider to be triple-distilled.It is like a Lowland malt or Irish whiskey, but with a lot more body and character than either of those styles.A rich, sweet, smooth malt which sees fresh, green estery Speyside characteristics subsumed in its dark aromas.
Lightly smoky and woody. There's something that might be mistaken for peat smoke in Benrinnes, but that's hidden beneath layers of full sweetness, rum and chocolate notes, and of course a sherried aftertaste.
Nose:Slightly doughy. Toffee chip biscuits. Floral.
Palate:Rounded, good sweetness. A whiff of peat.
Finish:Barley, biscuity, slightly drying.
