Bright garnet red colour. Complex and intense notes of fresh violets along hint of finest red flowers, ample notes of ripe blackberries, blueberries followed by species notes of black pepper, vanilla along with a sublime touch of chocolate, finished in a delicate hint of oak.
Full body, dry, smooth and warm, full rounded wine with precise tannins due to the ageing in a well balance oak barrel?s, (?Carato?). Great robust and pleasant rounded structure with longevity and intense taste, it?s an excellent wine to preserve and keep in evolution for many years in the bottle. For this particular wine they use the grapes from the most ancient vineyards of the "Boschetto Vecchio" and "Fonda San Nicolao" sites, situated in the area of Nizza Monferrato at an altitude of 200/280m, a few days before the harvest, the selection must to be done only looking for the best ripe grapes, preparing those for the harvest which has to be handpicked. Maceration in contact with the skins for 10-12 days, racking and slow fermentation of the young wine for 2-3 weeks.
After a rest period in steel vats follows a period of ageing in small oak casks (small barrel of 225 litres) which lasts as long as it is necessary to bestow an aura of nobility upon a wine that was already born to greatness. Barcarato remains in the bottle further 9 months after bottling before being shipped off for sale.
