- Tasting Notes 1: Antonio Galloni-98-The 2010 Barolo Tre Tine, a last minute addition, is spectacular. I know, it s too young, but I couldn t help myself. These days, Rinaldi s Barolo Brunate gets most of the attention, but in some vintages, I find the Tre Tine even more classic because of its laser like focus and youthful austerity. The 2010 is a wine that very much fits that mold. Brisk and energetic, the 2010 Tre Tine is the perfect bookend to the evening and brings us full circle to the present day.
- Tasting Notes 2: Stephen Tanzer-93-95-(scheduled to be bottled in March of 2014): Good full red. Lovely sweet perfume combines strawberry and brown spices. The palate offers a compellingly sweet red berry syrup flavor (I would have guessed it had some residual sugar) that's given terrific juicy definition and lift by firm acidity. Finishes vibrant and impressively long, with big but noble tannins coating the entire mouth. Great potential here.
- Tasting Notes 3: Monica Larner-88?-The 2010 Barolo Tre Tine tasted riper and more oxidative than expected, especially given the excellence of the vintage. I will add that it is often difficult to taste at the Giuseppe Rinaldi winery given the competing aromas of must and damp in the tasting space (and the fact these samples were poured from previously opened bottles). The bouquet shows round cherry flavors and spice.
