This estate grown Waiheke Sauvignon Blanc really is The Sancerre of the South - bone dry, bracing and packed with personality and herbaceous notes It exhibits fresh herb, nettles and gooseberry character, and contains a splash of Semillon, creating a wine that is fresh and crisp, in a dry fruity style, with a remarkable 'chalky' minerality which, over time, will develop into a wonderfully toasted muesli/tropical fruit character The 12-mile long Waiheke Island, east of Auckland, is an evocative intriguing location Its native Kauri trees were once prized for shipbuilding - hence the name Man O War
