As with most of Stéphane’s wines, the ‘brand’ name is far from inappropriate. Roussanne suits barrelageing, as here, where it has had eight months, with regular battonage. However the resulting wine is both pure and focused, with poached pear notes and hints of crème brûlée. A little patience will allow nuances of almond, nougat and lemongrass to come through: all in all, a very promising Roussanne.
