2014 Picolit, Colli Orientali del Friuli, Marco Sara, Udine

Sold Out

Harvested at the end of September 2014, before undergoing a 70 day appassimento that allowed the development of some noble rot, this sweet wine (130 grams of residual sugar; 7.1 total acidity) was fermented naturally and slowly in two French barriques and then in large botte, complementing the citrus and orange peel/zest notes. Drier than the 2013, there are notes of liquorice and spice, along with a fresh, white fruit finish of great elegance and purity at only 12.3 percent alcohol. This needs time to develop in bottle. Drink 2017-2025.
