Berry Bros. & Rudd Spy, 5-year-old, Dry Madeira

Sold Out

Berry Bros. & Rudd’s ‘Ship Series’ of Madeiras reflects the practice, common until the mid-nineteenth century, of naming wines after the ships that carried them. The Spy was a sloop from Bermuda carrying grain to Madeira and wine back to the West Indies until shipwrecked off Funchal in 1714. The driest and in some ways the purest style, The Spy has a distinctive nose of dried flowers and walnuts and then a magnificently complex palate which marries notes of fig, mocha and dried fruit.
