- Tasting Notes 1: Stephen Tanzer-89+-Full red-ruby. Roasted aromas of game, tar, iris and tobacco. Supple and thick on the palate, with an intriguing smoky/vegetal/autumnal aspect that reminded me of Clos des Lambrays. Comes across as considerably richer than the DRC '97 Grands-Echezeaux, but this also finishes with a slight dry edge.
- Tasting Notes 2: Neal Martin-95-Dense ruby colour. A heavenly, perfumed nose of wild strawberries. Perhaps less refined than usual but certainly very intense. The palate is dense with slightly dry tannins, yet the fruits are rounded and inviting. More masculine than usual. Very long length, quite muscular on the finish. A long-term wine, perhaps dare I say more than the 1995 or 1996? (792 cases produced ) Tasted February 2000.
- Tasting Notes 3: Pale cherry red. Lovely autumnal notes with bitter cherr fruit on the nose. Some acidity and a real kick on the palate. Lifted, flirtatious and already drinking well.
