Bacchus is emerging as the UK’s equivalent to a New Zealand style Sauvignon Blanc, and is a signature British grape. Bacchus is a Riesling/Sylvaner cross , with a thick green skin. As a variety it can be difficult to grow, but all UK vineyards will produce Bacchus if the season has been dry enough. East Anglian Bacchus has a distinctive aromatic, slightly flinty quality though each season brings its own individuality. Most people love the gooseberry and elderflower notes. It is a dry wine but the perfume and depth of fruit make it appear more of a medium dry. It is, quite simply - delicious. In
