Tasting Notes 1: Joaquin Hidalgo-91-The 2007 Sena is a wine from a year of low yields and overripe expressions thanks to spring rains that affected fruit formation followed by a fairly hot summer. A blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Carmenere, 12% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot aged for 22 months in new French barrels. A dark garnet red in hue. A ripe nose of soy sauce, fig jam and herbs. In the mouth the tannins are firm and lit up by the rich balance but restrained by the wood, which also brings a slightly smoky flavor with a hint of sweetness.
